PC 2022-0041 Minimizing the Risk of Exposure to COVID-19 in Canada Order – Prohibition of Entry into Canada

This Order comes into force at 00:01:00 EST on January 31, 2022 and ceases to have effect at 23:59:59 EST on February 28, 2022. Repealed by PC 2022-0177.

Overview:

This order is to (1) support Canada’s continued focus on reducing the introduction and further spread of COVID-19 by decreasing the risk of importing cases from outside the country; (2) continue to prohibit entry of foreign nationals, with some limited exceptions, and if they have reasonable grounds to suspect they have COVID-19, if they have signs and symptoms of COVID-19, or if they know they have COVID-19; (3) grant authority to the Minister of Health to temporarily prohibit entry of foreign nationals, irrespective of vaccination status, if in the 14 days prior to entering Canada they were in a country identified as having an outbreak of a variant of concern as identified by the World Health Organization; (4) clarify some of the entry requirements for foreign nationals based on vaccination status; and (5) extend the restrictions on entry into Canada until February 28, 2022.
