PC 2021-0823 Minimizing the Risk of Exposure to COVID-19 in Canada Order – Prohibition of Entry into Canada from the United States

Overview:

In order to (1) support Canada’s continued focus on reducing the introduction and further spread of COVID-19 by decreasing the risk of importing cases from outside the country; (2) continue to prohibit entry into Canada of foreign nationals arriving from the United States for an optional or discretionary purpose, with some limited exceptions, and if they have reasonable grounds to suspect they have COVID-19, if they have signs and symptoms of COVID-19, or if they know they have COVID-19; (3) permit fully vaccinated citizens and permanent residents of the United States and their unvaccinated dependants to enter Canada for discretionary travel effective August 9, 2021; (4) exempt fully vaccinated immediate and extended family members of a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person registered as an Indian under the Indian Act, from demonstrating their intent to stay in Canada for a period of at least 15 days effective August 9, 2021; (5) allow unvaccinated habitual residents of the remote communities of Point Roberts, Washington; Northwest Angle, Minnesota; and Hyder, Alaska to enter a neighbouring Canadian community for optional or discretionary purposes effective August 9, 2021; (6) allow persons to enter Canadian waters, provided that they remain on board their vessel and do not make contact with another conveyance, anchor, or moor while in Canadian waters effective August 9, 2021; (7) allow persons to leave Canadian waters and return to Canada, provided that they remain on board their vessel and do not make contact with another conveyance, anchor, or moor while outside of Canada effective August 9, 2021; (8) permit fully vaccinated foreign nationals from any country to enter Canada from the United States for discretionary travel as of September 7, 2021
