PC 2021-0824 Minimizing the Risk of Exposure to COVID-19 in Canada Order – Prohibition of Entry into Canada from any country other than the United States

Subject to subsection (2), this Order comes into force at 12:01:00 a.m. EDT on August 9, 2021. Section 6 comes into force at 12:01:00 a.m. EDT on September 7, 2021. This Order ceases to have effect at 12:01:00 a.m. EDT on September 21, 2021. Repealed by PC 2021-0903.

Overview:

This order is to (1) support Canada’s continued focus on reducing the introduction and further spread of COVID-19 by decreasing the risk of importing cases from outside the country; (2) continue to prohibit entry into Canada of foreign nationals arriving from countries other than the United States, with some limited exceptions, and if they have reasonable grounds to suspect they have COVID-19, if they have signs and symptoms of COVID-19, or if they know they have COVID-19; (3) allow fully vaccinated French citizens residing in Saint-Pierre-et-Miquelon to enter Canada for discretionary travel effective August 9, 2021; (4) allow persons to enter Canada in marine mode, provided that they remain on board their vessel and do not make contact with another conveyance, anchor, or moor while in Canadian waters, effective August 9, 2021; (5) allow persons to leave Canadian waters and return to Canada, provided that they remain on board their vessel and do not make contact with another conveyance, anchor, or moor while outside of Canada, effective August 9, 2021; (6) exempt fully vaccinated immediate and extended family members of a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person registered as an Indian under the Indian Act, from demonstrating their intent to stay in Canada for a period of at least 15 days, effective August 9, 2021; (7) permit fully vaccinated foreign nationals from any country and their unvaccinated dependants to enter Canada for discretionary travel as of September 7, 2021.
