PC 2022-0042 Minimizing the Risk of Exposure to COVID-19 in Canada Order – Quarantine, Isolation and Other Obligations

This Order comes into force at 00:01:00 Eastern Standard Time on January 31, 2022 and ceases to have effect at 23:59:59 Eastern Standard Time on February 28, 2022. Repealed by PC 2022-0178.

Overview:

This order is to to (1) support Canada’s continued focus on reducing the introduction and further spread of COVID-19 by decreasing the risk of importing cases from outside the country; (2) allow for selective verification of pre-arrival COVID-19 tests by border services officers for travellers entering Canada at land or marine points of entry; (3) clarify that unvaccinated operators of a commercial vehicle, unless delivering medically necessary supplies, equipment, or devices, are not exempt from the requirement to obtain a pre-arrival COVID-19 test and will be subject to the requirement to Covid Prevention Measures>Quarantine and to undergo COVID-19 molecular testing in Canada; (4) provide residents of Saint Pierre and Miquelon an exemption from Covid Prevention Measures>Quarantine and on-arrival testing, regardless of vaccination status, when scheduled to receive medical care within 96 hours of arrival; and (5) extend the restrictions on entry into Canada until February 28, 2022.
