PC2022-0320 Minimizing the Risk of Exposure to COVID-19 in Canada Order – Prohibition of Entry into Canada

Sections 10 and 11 come into force at 23:59:58 Eastern Daylight Time on March 31, 2022. Sections 1 to 9 and 12 and the Schedule come into force at 00:01:00 Eastern Daylight Time on April 1, 2022. This Order ceases to have effect at 23:59:59 Eastern Daylight Time on May 31, 2022.

Overview:

This order is to (1) support Canada’s continued focus on reducing the introduction and further spread of COVID-19 by decreasing the risk of importing cases from outside the country; (2) continue to prohibit entry of foreign nationals, with some limited exceptions, and if they have reasonable grounds to suspect they have COVID-19, if they have signs and symptoms of COVID-19, or if they know they have COVID-19; (3) permit unvaccinated, symptomatic or COVID-19 positive foreign national cruise ship passengers to enter Canada if they remain in isolation on board the vessel for the duration of their stay in Canada; (4) permit symptomatic or COVID-19 positive foreign national cruise ship passengers who would otherwise be permitted entry to Canada to disembark at their final destination in Canada to complete their isolation on land; (5) allow foreign nationals to enter without a valid COVID-19 pre-arrival test if they are exempt from the pre-arrival testing requirements set out in the Covid Prevention Measures>Quarantine Order; and (6) clarify existing entry exemptions for certain foreign nationals to include those entering to be accredited by Global Affairs Canada.
